 \n\nTraining Description:\nUnderstanding inappropriate sexual behaviour pr
 esentations is impossible without having a clear understanding of normativ
 e sexual behaviour. This workshop will review normative sexual development
  – birth through puberty. Developmental expectations for each phase of s
 exual development will be clearly outlined.\nThis workshop will address th
 e confusing issues surrounding sexualized behaviour presentation by the pr
 e-school and school-aged\, pre-pubescent child. Discussion will include th
 e influence of culture and media on “acceptable” behaviour. Criteria w
 ill be outlined to assist in determining the necessity of clinical interve
 ntion. The role of parents\, educators\, health care personnel and mental 
 health practitioners in identifying problems will be defined.\nMany adults
  have experienced sexual trauma which may have left them with earlier deve
 lopmental arrests. These issues may be identified as relationship issues\;
  communication problems with partners\, or difficulty discussing sexual is
 sues with their children. This workshop provides a framework for identifyi
 ng sexual development as we all experience it and may be useful to adult t
 herapists working with traumatized individuals.\n&nbsp\;\n\nSpeaker Bio (f
 rom http://www.geraldinecrisci.com/)\n\nGeraldine Crisci\, M.S.W. is a men
 tal health professional with 30 years experience in the field of trauma. S
 he is a private practitioner who provides assessment and treatment to chil
 dren\, youth and their families. She is also a professional trainer provid
 ing educational programs to mental health\, protective services\, law enfo
 rcement\, medical and other helping profession. Geraldine developed and te
 aches the 6 day Trauma Assessment and Treatment Program for Safeguards
  which has reached 1500 professionals in the past 10 years. Geraldine has 
 developed protocols for the assessment and treatment of trauma\, sexualiz
 ed behaviour problems and sibling sexual abuse.  Geraldine also develope
 d reunification protocol for families.  She has provided support to agenc
 ies and families in successful adoption of children from the Protection sy
 stem. She has worked extensively with residential treatment programs for
  children and youth for the past 20 years. She specializes in addressing t
 he impact of trauma on the behaviour of children and youth.  To this end 
 she develops clinical programs to provide children\, youth and their famil
 ies with corrective effective therapeutic intervention. Geraldine is a me
 mber of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC)
 . She co-authored Paper Dolls and Paper Airplanes: Therapeutic Exercises 
 for Sexually Traumatized Children\, which is currently in its 10th year
