 active training will focus on three key areas in the consideration of the 
 potential role of pornography in the supervision and treatment of those wh
 o have sexually offended. We will review the history of pornography\, type
 s and genres of pornography\, and the social\, moral\, and legal reactions
  to varying forms of sexually explicit materials. We then examine the empi
 rical research on the role of pornography in the commission of sexual offe
 nses as well as the risk factors associated with recidivism. We discuss th
 e treatment and policy implications of both the historical and empirical d
 ata and what this means for supervision practices.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSpeaker B
 ios: \n\nEmma Bess holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of 
 Michigan where she focused on Interpersonal Practice/Mental Health. Prior
  to receiving her master’s degree\, Emma studied Criminal Justice at Fer
 ris State University where she received her Bachelors of Criminal Justice 
 with a focus on Corrections. Emma has experience ranging from working with
  survivors of sexual and domestic abuse to facilitating inpatient treatmen
 t groups with women who are incarcerated. Emma has been working as a Sex O
 ffender Therapist for Berghuis Psychological Services since March 2015 whe
 re she specializes in assessing and treating sexual offenders.\n\nDr. Toni
  Crocilla has a master’s in Forensic Psychology and a doctorate in Clini
 cal Psychology. She has worked within county and state level corrections a
 nd related agencies for 10 years in numerous roles\, including being a the
 rapist in a juvenile prison in Chicago\, two state prisons in Michigan\, a
 nd in Wayne County Jail’s Mental Health Unit. She founded and directs Wi
 se Mind PLLC\, a southeast Michigan assessment and psychotherapy group pra
 ctice providing mental health treatment to both private and court-ordered 
 clients with a focus on trauma\, sexuality\, justice-impacted individuals\
 , and those with sexual behavior problems. Wise Mind is a contracted vendo
 r with the State of Michigan to provide sex offender treatment services fo
 r those on parole and probation. Dr. Crocilla is a clinical member of the 
 Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA)\, a board member of
  the Michigan chapter (MI-ATSA)\, and the president of the Youth Justice F
 und (YJF).\n\nDr. Karen Holt is an Assistant Professor in the School of Cr
 iminal Justice at Michigan State University. She holds two masters degrees
 \, one in Criminal Justice and one in Forensic Psychology. She earned her 
 doctoral degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Just
 ice in New York City. Dr. Holt’s research focuses on sexual deviance\, s
 exual offending\, and the intersection of technology\, media\, and offendi
 ng. Her work has been published in scholarly journals such as Violence and
  Victims\, Sexual Abuse\, and The Journal of Behavioral Medicine. She has 
 presented her research at both national and international criminology conf
 erences. She is a member of several professional associations\, including 
 the American Society of Criminology\, The Latina Researchers Network\, The
  Center for Gender in Global Context\, The Research Consortium for Gender-
 Based Violence\, and The Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers. 
 She is a board member of the Michigan chapter of ATSA and Small Talk\, a c
 hildren’s advocacy center in Lansing.
