Staying current with research matters, but it can be overwhelming—MIATSA is here to help.
Join us for the MIATSA Lunch & Learn Series, a free, one-hour training that explores curated scholarly articles, books, and evidence-based practices on sexual abuse prevention and supervision. Through collaborative discussion with peers, you’ll leave each session with concrete, research-backed strategies you can apply in your work.
Let’s grow and learn—together.
This month, we’ll be reviewing the 2026 article “The Hackett continuum revised: a developmentally and contextually informed framework for children’s sexual behaviour” by Simon Hackett. Journal of Sexual Aggression, 1-26. This paper presents a revised Hackett Continuum for children’s sexual behaviours, with children defined as all persons under 18 years. The revision updates the language and constructs of the original model, links five descriptive strands to three overarching categories – developmentally expected sexual behaviour, problematic sexual behaviour and HSB – and applies to both in-person and digitally mediated behaviours.
